Trying to See Red

c38d59af2097b8b4cd478f60d4789010--koh-samui-thailand-milkshakesI know opening with a quote, how truly drab. I might as well have grabbed a platitude.

well here we go.

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”

― Stephen King, (RED) Shawshank Redemption

No friend of mine can turn that off when it’s on television on a Sunday afternoon.

That being said, these days I feel like a very ugly bird. I’ve in fact never felt like this ugly of a bird. If I was in a park waiting for bread crumbs someone might take pity and throw me more bread than the others thinking it was my last meal or give me none because it would be a waste.

I’ve never been here. Well, that’s a lie (see I’m already lying to you). I have been here, since I am living with my parents in the same place I grew up in, the same bedroom… hell the cats is 15ish. The floors have never been clean. The microwave is the same one that my dad bought when he hit at the track… although it doesn’t work now and it’s only job now is a timer.

That said – there are many famous “words I have lived by” like Red’s comment about Andy.

These days, I don’t have that hope the color will come back.
